Primary Teacher

We are seeking a Primary School teacher for a school in Thamesmead, South London for a September 2019 start.  The school believe in providing a creative, stimulating and challenging curriculum where all children feel safe to take risks. They believe in helping children develop their resilience and preparing them for a successful, happy life. They believe in the pupils becoming higher order thinkers and problem solvers who have strong autonomy and control over their actions and choices. Their curriculum reflects this: they use an investigative approach to maths learning with mastery and depth of understanding being paramount. They plan high quality English Learning journeys including teaching Reading based on use of high quality texts, talk, higher order questioning, modelling and scaffolding and principles from ‘Let’s Think’; their science is focussed around enquiry; their creative curriculum is based on challenge and quality learning experiences; they invest in quality learning in music, drama, art and PE. They are part of a ‘Professional Learning Community’ where professional dialogue and research-based development will inform and challenge their practise.

In the school’s most recent Ofsted report the school was found to be ‘determined that pupils will understand the potential of education to transform their chances in life. Leaders ignite a passion for learning in pupils who rely on their school to do this for them.’

The school has high-quality teachers and a positive culture and good reputation.

Middle leaders are effective in driving improvement, those who are responsible for other subjects benefit from the strong and effective support provided by your senior team. They are pivotal in ensuring that pupils continue to make good progress in a wide range of subjects.

Central Way in Thamesmead is in South East London; the area is built on old marsh lands, and is located immediately by the River Thames. There are quick trains into London, as well as quick links to Kent with countryside and quaint towns and villages to explore.

For this primary role you need to be enthusiastic, inspirational and available to start in 2019 – at the beginning of the British academic year.
